Joint Tendonitis
Understanding Joint Tendonitis
Joint Tendonitis, often referred to as tendonitis, is an inflammation or irritation of a tendon, the thick fibrous cords that attach muscle to bone. This condition causes pain and tenderness near the joints and is often caused by repetitive, minor impact on the affected area, or from a sudden more serious injury.
Causes and Symptoms
Tendonitis can occur in any of your tendons, but it's most common around your shoulders, elbows, wrists, knees, and heels. Some common names for various tendonitis problems are tennis elbow, golfer's elbow, pitcher's shoulder, swimmer's shoulder, and jumper's knee. Symptoms include pain in the tendon which is worsened by movement, swelling, and a sensation of heat or burning around the affected area.
"I've suffered from tennis elbow for most of my adult life. After any strenuous activity i'd suffer for weeks with a terribly painful elbow. I'm unable to lift anything or bend it without the joint locking up. In December, 2021, Dr. Sheen performed two PBM treatments on my elbow, while it was flared up. I'm happy to share that within only a few days my elbow felt, and functioned, much better! I have not had any problems with the elbow since the second treatment was completed. Dr. Sheen informed me that I may need occasional maintenance on the elbow and I'll gladly schedule that appointment to be pain free."

Treatment Options at Sheen Vein & Cosmetics
At Sheen Vein & Cosmetics, we provide an array of treatment options for Joint Tendonitis. Our approach done by using Photobiomodulation. The PBM therapy enhances the healing mechanisms in and around the inflamed tendon. This helps to decrease the inflammation and irritation and thus allows the tendon to heal which in turn mitigates the discomfort.
Preventative Measures
Although Tendonitis can be a painful and debilitating condition, it's largely preventable. Regular strength and flexibility exercises can help ensure that your muscles and tendons remain in good health. Additionally, taking breaks during repetitious activities and using equipment that's appropriate for your body size and strength can significantly reduce your risk of Tendonitis.
